Insurance Officer, BrooklynSydney, AustraliaThis role is within the Brooklyn Underwriting Division of AXA XL. In this role, you will support the Brooklyn Underwriting teams to ensure accurate and efficient processing of Insurance Policies and Claims as well as overall compliance with AXA XL policies. Furthermore, this role will serve as a support to the existing underwriting teams to alleviate the processing and client servicing load of their day to day management of the Brooklyn portfolio.DISCOVER your opportunityWhat will your essential responsibilities include?Supporting Product/Underwriting Managers
  • Development of new question sets to allow brokers to enter additional details in a bid to improve the iBAIS system’s auto-decisioning of risks and to alleviate the referral burden currently present on the Brooklyn Underwriting teams.
  • Development of Change Request documentation to be submitted to BA Insurance Services for changes being requested by the business.
  • Review of functional design documentation against requirements as prepared by BA Insurance services.
  • Testing of change post their development to ensure alignment with the business requirement and the identification of any defects for vendor rectification.
  • The review of broker communications and policy documentation to align to the new processes developed as part of the optimisation of processes.
Underwriter Processing
  • Renewal Invitations – Generating Renewal Invitations and sending to clients
  • Processing Endorsements – Receiving endorsement details from Underwriters and processing into the Brooklyn system
  • Processing & Posting to Bordereaux – Receiving Policy details from Underwriters and processing into the Brooklyn system
  • Closings – Reviewing Closings received from Brokers against the policy details within the system and rectifying discrepancies in conjunction with Underwriters
  • Credit Control Queries – Investigating Credit Control queries and providing adequate details to Underwriters to facilitate conversations with brokers or rectify details on the Brooklyn system
Client Documentation
  • Create Policy Documents – Creating draft Policy Documents and sending to Underwriters for review
  • Produce Certificate of Currency's – Producing Certificate’s and sending to brokers
  • Generate Claims History – Producing Claims History reports and sending to brokers
  • Provide Claims teams with Documentation as Requested – Obtaining documentation and liaising with Claims Managers as required
Internal Reporting
  • Reinsurance, Pricing and Claims Bordereaux Consolidation – Constructing Policy and Claims data from multiple sources to ensure Underwriters and Claims Managers have an accurate view of their portfolio
  • Reporting Review – Liaise with Front and Middle Office teams to review and investigate any Compliance Reporting or Bordereaux Queries

  • A desire to work with an international insurance powerhouse
  • An ability to identify and analyse problems, identifying and evaluating options and deploying sound decision making skills
  • An ability to provide a consistently first class customer service internally and / or externally
  • An aptitude for numbers and an ability to interpret & manipulate data clearly and accurately with the ability to extract & clearly articulate insights
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills, exercising appropriate discretion in dealing with people from all levels of the Company
  • Ability to build effective working relationships (internally/externally), establishing credibility amongst a wide group of stakeholders
  • Excellent attention to detail and a meticulous eye for identifying inconsistencies or inaccuracies in documentation and throughout the underwriting and claims processes
  • Ability to organise yourself (and others if applicable) including effective scheduling, prioritisation and time management skills, completing tasks to meet tight deadlines. Demonstrating a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Comfortable taking ownership for own work, identifying the need for action (using initiative) whilst working effectively within a team
  • Displays a resilient and adaptable style, with an ability to remain calm in demanding circumstances, adjusting comfortably to changing conditions / priorities
  • The role would suit highly driven self-starters, with a strong desire to challenge themselves and deliver
  • A willingness to travel as required by the business.
  • Desirable Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs; specifically Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint
