Requisition ID: REQ479972Closing Date: Tuesday 30th April 2024Occupational Therapist – Level 3The Maitland HospitalAbout the role:The Occupational Therapy service at Maitland Hospital works across the medical, surgical and intensive care wards as well as the Emergency Department. We are a patient centred, supportive OT team that works within a wider collaborative multi-disciplinary team to facilitate recovery and appropriate discharge from hospital.This role is a new weekend OT position and is the introduction of a 7-day OT service to promote patient flow through the hospital. The hours of work proposed are 4 hours on a Saturday and 4 hours on a Sunday.You will be involved in setting up this service including clinical prioritisation, handover to/from weekday OT’s and consultation liaison with other new weekend Allied Health staff.Where you’ll be working:
  • The Maitland Hospital is a health facility for the Upper and Lower Hunter Regions. The urban/rural population serviced is approximately 72,000 and incorporates Maitland, Cessnock, Kurri Kurri, Singleton, Muswellbrook, Dungog and Raymond Terrace. The hospital is located 35 minutes from the John Hunter Children's Hospital and transport by air or road is facilitated by NSW Ambulance Services.

Requirements:
Our successful candidate will possess the following:
  • Occupational Therapist with current Authority to Practice with AHPRA.
About you:
  • You will have significant experience working on the wards in an acute hospital with a wide variety of clinical conditions and competing pressures around discharge.
  • You will be able to prioritise work across multiple wards, liaise with the multi-disciplinary team, raise concerns regarding discharge and work autonomously.
  • You will be the sole OT in the hospital on the weekend.
