About the role
Out City Futures Department is looking for a dynamic Principal Urban Designer to join our multi-disciplinary team of city designers and shapers, working together to improve the sustainability and livability of Glen Eira.As a key member of our team, you will take lead on crafting innovative solutions for major projects, influencing how our city evolves and thrives.Other responsibilities include:
  • Leading and project managing the development and delivery of Glen Eira's integrated transport and urban design projects and contribute to other strategic planning, community engagement and placemaking projects.
  • Developing and coordinating the strategic urban design programs
  • Providing strong graphic communication skills with the ability to clearly represent, maps, concepts and ideas.
  • Utilising digital platforms and tools to prepare 3D images to communicate project ideas
  • Developing, documenting and promoting Council's various design guidelines based on movement and place framework, environmentally sustainable design principals and good public realm outcomes.
What you will bring:
Are you passionate about transforming communities and creating vibrant, liveable spaces? Do you have a minimum of 4 years' experience in the urban design industry and can provide trusted advice on design principals?Your creativity and expertise will play a vital role in revolutionising our vision of making Glen Eira a well-planned, desirable community for all.The following is also required:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Planning, Urban Design or closely related fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate creative and innovative approaches, using highly developed research and analysis, to solve complex problems.
  • Excellent graphic visualisation skills and ability to prepare design documents such as urban design guidelines, frameworks and public realm projects.
  • Well-developed community liaison and public relation skills.
