Flourish Australia has an exciting opportunity for a Vocational Coordinator to join the headspace Bankstown team.This leadership opportunity is a chance to develop your career while working with young people with mental health issues to achieve their employment and educational goals.The position is:
  • Ongoing Full-time (76 hours per fortnight)
  • Working Monday to Friday
  • Based at Bankstown
  • Attractive salary starting at $82,000 per annum + 11% Super + Tax-Free Salary Packaging
About the OpportunityAs the headspace Vocational Coordinator, you will work with the Clinical and Operations Manager to implement the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) program. The IPS program aims to improve the educational and employment outcomes of young people with mental health concerns, who are at risk of disengaging from education and employment.As the Vocational Coordinator, you will:
  • Provide day-to-day vocational leadership to headspace Vocational Specialists and other clinical staff
  • Work with young people to develop individual support plans that set realistic goals and plan strategies, to overcome identified barriers to engage in employment and/or education
  • Support young people to achieve their vocational and/or education goals
  • Engage young people to ensure they link to suitable employment opportunities
  • Facilitate professional development workshops to promote the vocational recovery program
  • Develop partnerships with employers, training providers, educational institutions, community organisations and other health professionals

  • Tertiary qualifications in training and assessment, employment services, or psychosocial support.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role and in providing support and/or supervision to lower or similar classified staff.
  • Extensive knowledge of issues that impact young people with mental health issues when accessing employment and/or educational opportunities.
  • Able to demonstrate an emerging knowledge of recovery focused and family inclusive practice.
  • Proven ability to meet program achievables within agreed timeframes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills with the ability to effectively manage competing demands.
  • Proof of customer service experience with demonstrable facilitation, presentation, mentoring and training skills.
  • Ability to fully use Microsoft Office Suite and the client information management system.
  • Extensive knowledge of the employment services sector, Centrelink and other state and federal employment initiatives that impact young people.
  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence.
