Since its establishment, the Fitzgerald Chair has been held by distinguished scholars who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and made a significant impact in the field of accounting.This endowed Chair is situated within the Department of Accounting. There is an expectation that the holder of this Chair has capacity and willingness to participate in public discussion and debate about important national and international issues relevant to accounting and be active in the seeking of research funding from government and business sectors.About You
The successful applicant will be an international expert in any field of accounting, with a demonstrated track record of high-quality, impactful research, teaching, and leadership.You will possess;
  • A PhD in accounting or a related discipline.
  • The capacity to make a significant contribution to the vision, aspirations, and state of the Department of Accounting at the University of Melbourne.
  • A clear commitment to providing academic leadership in the discipline of accounting across the profession and in the wider community.
  • Demonstrated commitment to innovative and engaged teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

The Department of Accounting carries out research, teaching, and industry engagement across financial and managerial accounting, auditing and assurance services, and accounting information systems. The Department offers both undergraduate and post-graduate programs. There are over 40 academic staff and six professional staff in the Department.Faculty of Business and Economics
