As the Piggery Attendant (Farrowing & Mating), you will be at the helm of the piggery's daily rhythms, driving the operation towards excellence. You will undertake day-to-day pig husbandry, mating and farrowing activities, from meticulous health monitoring to implementing gold-standard animal welfare protocols. This role needs an eye for detail, top-notch communication, and a can-do attitude.Your duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Ensuring a safe working environment for pigs and humans alike.
- Conducting inspections and maintenance of piggery equipment and infrastructure.
- Managing detailed records of inventory, production data, and pig performance metrics.
- Collaborating on breeding programs to ensure the health of the herd.
- Upholding stringent biosecurity measures.
We are searching for someone who:
- Possesses at least 3 years of robust experience with mating and farrowing.
- Has an ability to work autonomously while still being a fantastic team player.
- Exhibits proven leadership prowess, is adept at steering teams, and can supervise with confidence.
- Holds knowledge in pig husbandry, encompassing breeding, nutritional, health, and welfare aspects.
- Demonstrates excellent problem-solving abilities, coupled with a keen eye for detail.
- Communicates with clarity and effectiveness, irrespective of the audience.
- Has the flexibility to adapt to a schedule, with rosters on weekends and holidays.
