CSS is closely associated with UQ Cyber Security, which has recently created innovative Cyber War Rooms, Agile Security Operation Centre (ASOC) labs, and a Device Testing Lab. CSS also leads the Master of Cyber Security degree, an interdisciplinary postgraduate degree aligned to the NIST NICE Framework.We are seeking to grow our cyber security research focus, by the addition of a Lecturer (Level B), teaching and research appointment to the CSS team. The School is ramping up its investment in teaching, research and engagement to create an inspiring, diverse and flexible workplace. We would like to increase our research strength in areas such as AI for Cyber Security and/or Cyber Security for IoT and/or Cyber Security Benchmarking. These are growth areas with many opportunities to apply the recent advances in generative AI and large language models (LLM) to cyber security challenges such as AI-based intrusion detection, to address IoT security issues for smart homes, smart cities and edge computing, and to develop and analyse high-quality cyber security benchmark datasets.It is expected that the successful applicant will have the demonstrated capability and willingness to teach into the following teaching areas within the school:Introductory and intermediate programming coursesCyber security systems at the introductory, intermediate or advanced undergraduate levelCyber security individual capstone projects and research methodsCyber security for IoT and Edge Computing at undergraduate and postgraduate levelsCyber security team projects at the introductory or intermediate undergraduate levelIn addition, applicants are expected to be able to teach courses on advanced cyber security topics aligned with their area of research expertise.Key responsibilities will include:Teaching & ResearchSupervision and Researcher DevelopmentCitizenship and ServiceThis is a teaching & research position. The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $108,201.26 - $128,201.75, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $126,595.47 - $149,996.05 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.The greater of joining the UQ community are broad: from being part of a university, to recognition of prior service with other Australian universities, up to 26 weeks of paid parental leave, 17.5% annual leave loading, flexible working arrangements including hybrid on site/WFH options and flexible start/finish times, and genuine career progression opportunities via the academic promotions process.About YouApplicants should possess a PhD in computer science, specialising in cyber security.Additionally, you will demonstrate:A growing profile in teaching and research in cyber security.A developing reputation and track record of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.Evidence of successfully seeking, obtaining, and managing external research funding.Evidence of a high level of quality teaching at undergraduate, honours, and postgraduate level across a variety of settings, including small and large groups.Experience in course coordination and contribution to the development and continuous innovation of new programs, curriculum design and course material in the discipline area.A growing record of supervision of Honours and Research Higher Degree students to successful completion.Experience in meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with active contributions to external activities.In addition, the following mandatory requirements apply:Work Rights: You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply.
