Experienced Speech Pathologist required for locum based in regional Victoria. The role is to ASAP for 3 months ++ (you choose). You will work alongside a small allied health team. Primarily paediatric caseload, with some adult community/aged care caseload.The position involves travel to primary schools and an early learning centre.At the beginning of the year, you will do assessments with the assistance of the Learning and Support teams within the schools on the new preps and Grade 1 students to identify those needing additional therapy.Once initial assessments are complete the role will involve therapy planning and implementation. The commitment to carrying out therapy plans is dependent on the learning support within the schools as sometimes it is passed onto them.You also have the option of delegating some of the therapy to an Allied Health Assistant. Some schools have a higher case load than others, with more complex needs. The Speech Pathologist also spends time with the Learning Support Teams and teachers providing some capacity building so they are able to identify children in need of therapy.In addition to the face to face time in schools there is input into preparation of reports (providing the clinical input) and statistical data.Depending on the workload within the schools, the Speech Pathologist may also be required to see some aged care residents/adult community as needed.You will work alongside a team of other allied health professionals on the team including OT, Physiotherapist, Exercise Physiologist, Podiatrist, Dietitian, Qualified Social Worker, Health Promotion Officer and Allied Health AssistantsFREE accommodation available, some travel assistance and locum rates $$.
