Who are we looking for?In Australia, more than 2,800 people take their own life each year. StandBy - Support After Suicide was established in 2002 to meet the need for a coordinated community response to suicide. This 24/7 program supports anyone who has been bereaved or impacted by suicide at any stage in their life, providing both direct and coordinated support from local service and groups.We are looking for a professional to use their knowledge of grief, loss and trauma, you will use early interventions and supports to individuals and families following a suicide.What can you expect to be doing?
  • Respond to people and communities affected through suicide, with person centered support aligned with the StandBy Model.
  • Attend home visits to provide clients with grief support
  • Assist with the facilitation of training for communities to raise awareness of suicide and bereavement
  • Manage and maintain detailed case files to ensure accurate information is gathered and stored
  • Participate in regular debrief sessions with the Coordinator and external supervision as required.
What do you need to bring?
  • Tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent level of expertise and experience in social science, health or associated disciplines relevant to the requirements of the position.
  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is desirable.
  • Hold a current 'C' class driver license.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships
  • Understanding of grief and bereavement approaches
  • Experience in working with families and individuals affected by suicide will be highly regarded
