That’s how we continue to achieve extraordinary things in extraordinary locations.Job description:First Quantum Minerals, specifically the Ravensthorpe Nickel Operation (RNO), is on the lookout for a seasoned Health, Safety, Environment, and Training (HSET) Manager to join our team.As the HSET Manager, you will report directly to the General Manager and will be responsible for leading HSET functions to ensure the safe and sustainable execution of current and future operations at RNO. This role offers an opportunity for career growth and exposure to one of the world’s most intricate mineral processing facilities.The ideal candidate will be up for a challenge, possess excellent communication skills, demonstrate exceptional leadership, and be committed to our core values of ‘Bolder, Smarter, Driven, Together’.This residential role follows a 5:2, 4:3 roster and is based in Hopetoun, WA, a charming town adjacent to the Fitzgerald National Park. A relocation package and company housing will be provided to the successful candidate.Key Responsibilities:Oversee the daily operations of the HSET Team and its areas including safety, health, hygiene, environment, training and emergency response.Accountable for the development, and implementation of health, safety, environmental and training systems, standards and processes across all areas of the operation from a risk-based perspective and ensure that compliance is attained.Lead a high-performing multi-disciplinary team to achieve best practice in health, safety, and environmental management.Mentor leadership teams in achieving HSET legislative compliance within the Western Australian mining industry.Develop and implement the site’s standards, working practices and procedures in HSET.Oversee the planning, permitting, implementation and coordination of HSET management and monitoring programs.Ensure all statutory and regulatory requirements concerning mine planning/chemical processing activities are met.Identify and obtain required permits and licenses within the project and mining schedule timeframe.Develop practical site compliance documents to assist leaders to comply with specific HSET legislative requirements, FQM group policies and site technical standards.Liaise with our external legal advisors in relation to all WHS compliance matters, including the collation and provision of evidence and responses to improvement and prohibition notices and information requests from the Regulator.Liaise and implement local government and agencies MOU's in relation to joint emergency response capabilities.Prepare and manage department budgets.Prepare monthly reports for site management, board and international groups.Liaise and assist FQM international operations with WHS and risk compliance system implementation.Develop and implement progressive site safety programs and reforms that focus on behavioural safety and safety cultural change.Implement strategies to ensure compliance with the conditions and commitments of environmental approvals and licences;Develop and set goals and strategies for implementation and improvement of the site's Environmental Management Plans.Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:Tertiary qualifications in a WHS or environmental discipline.A Minimum of 15 years’ experience in processing facilities/mining operations WHS and/or environmental management roles.Extensive experience working in health, safety and environmental in a chemical / process plant environment.Experience in negotiation of agreements/liaison with regulatory authorities and community stakeholders.Extensive experience working on remote mining/processing operations.Extensive knowledge of Safety and Environment Standards / systems utilised within the Western Australian mining industry.Emergency, medical services and training management experience.Detailed understanding of the Western Australian Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (WHS Act) and Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022.A sound knowledge of mine site rehabilitation strategies.A communicator with solid experience in promoting and strengthening the organisation's culture.Ability to influence and mentor at all levels and develop partnering relationships.Schedule 26 appointed or will be required to obtain the qualification within a specified timeframe.Visit our website and register for instant job alerts atFollow us for the latest news atIf you are already a First Quantum employee and have access to the First Quantum network, log into First Quantum MINE
