The Role
Joint Capabilities Group (JCG) Headquarters is seeking a highly motivated and passionate Director of Culture to provide leadership, strategic oversight and stewardship to drive cultural reform and capability, including to develop an inclusive and supportive workplace both internal and external to JCG.First Nations and organisational culture is a priority for Defence and our vision is to create and maintain a culture that values and respects our people. The Director of JCG Culture will be instrumental in shaping the culture of the Group to assist in realising its vision and fostering a capable and high performing workforce that anticipates and responds with agility, competence and confidence in a competitive and dynamic environment.The incumbent of this position will concentrate on shaping culture and employee experience through a strategic lens and will transform, create and maintain culture by actively aligning JCG to Defence’s values and behaviours.About our Team
JCG Headquarters provides high level support to the three star Group Head, the Chief of Joint Capabilities Group (CJC), by directing and coordinating Group operations across a range of functions. JCG Headquarters works closely with the Commands and Branches within JCG and other Groups/Services within Defence to contribute to JCG and Defence wide outcomes.The Director of Culture will work closely with the Chief of Staff, senior leadership of JCG and lead the culture team within Headquarters. The successful candidate will be a leader within the broader JCG Headquarters team. The Director can expect to routinely engage with peers in JCG Headquarters Workforce, Ministerial, Governance, Business, Finance, Communications, WH&S and Legal teams as well as counterparts and stakeholders across the broader Department of DefenceOur Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate is someone who has experience in leadership and strategy within organisational cultural reform and First Nations culture. A proven ability to provide high level strategic support and advice to senior leaders is imperative. You will need to be able to lead a team to develop and implement high level plans, prioritising undertaking the appropriate consultation and communication to ensure collegiate implementation. Strategic communication and experience in both developing and coordinating the application of organisational culture and First Nations strategies will be imperative.
