- An exciting opportunity for a Grade 1 social worker, who will provide clinical social work services to Peter Mac patients and their carers, across inpatient and outpatient settings and across all tumour streams.
- Ongoing part time position, 60.8 hours per fortnight (4 days per week).
- Position includes regular clinical supervision and access to professional development opportunities.
- Reporting to the Manager of Social Work, Music Therapy & Art Therapy.

- Eligible for Registration with Australian Association of Social Work (AASW)
- Experience in a hospital or health care setting
- Current Working With Children Check
- Demonstrated knowledge of the application of social work theory, practice frameworks and principles, in the context of the current health care environment
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and relationships. These should incorporate qualities of excellent communication (verbal and written) and skills in collaboration, negotiation and conflict management
- Demonstrated ability to work in interdisciplinary teams, at an accomplished level
- Well-developed individual, family work and crisis intervention and care planning skills
- Evidence of ongoing commitment to professional development and supervision
- Established computer literacy skills
- Knowledge of, and ability to contribute to quality improvement activities
- Evidence of understanding of research/evaluation principles
1. Provide direct high quality clinical services to patients and families within Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
- Compliance with AASW practice guidelines and professional standards, organizational policies and procedures
- Comprehensive range of social work services provided including: completion of psycho-social assessments and interventions plans to address access, community and organizational supports, adjustment to illness and other supportive care strategies relevant to the care of cancer patients and their families
- Discharge planning and documentation in accordance with professional guidelines
- Documentation in accordance with professional guidelines and organizational practices
- Data collection in line with organizational requirements
- Participation in Professional Development Programs
Provides or co-facilitates teaching and education sessions regarding oncology social work to internal and stakeholders.
- Engagement and self-reporting in Professional Supervision in accordance with AASW guidelines and organizational requirements
- Provides in-services for team members on role and psychosocial issues
- Contribute to policies developed in collaboration with colleagues in the Social Work Department and within professional standards
- Contribute to program development, quality assurance and practice based research activities in consultation with team, manager and professional supervisor
- Undertakes active role in relevant working groups
- Reports on all activities within agreed timelines
