The role has a broad portfolio of administrative and management responsibilities that includes health safety and wellness, finance, human resources, equipment, facilities, elements of governance, and workload management.Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Health, Safety, and Wellness (HSW)Support the Institute’s Workplace Wellbeing and Culture Working Group and represent ISSR on the HASS HSW Committee.Undertake effective HSW measures to ensure induction and training, undertake risk assessments, ensure application of appropriate risk control measures, and undertake hazard and accident follow-up reporting, and conduct audits as required.Oversee the UQ incident reporting system for ISSR and ensure all incidents are recorded and approved in collaboration with the HASS HSW Manager.Raise safety issues and oversee facility safety and security, including management of building access, and management of fire wardens and emergency management.Human Resource ManagementProvide leadership and management of the professional administration operations team.Support research staff supervisors with Human Resources operations and work collaboratively with the HR Professional Services Team to provide advice and assistance to Institute staff in relation to sensitive/difficult human resource matters.Oversee mandatory requirements such as Blue Cards and Police Checks etc.Infrastructure Resource ManagementLiaise with UQ Security, UQ Property and Facilities and external contractors to ensure secure access and maintenance of ISSR facilities and minor works refurbishments, including managing: security, cleaning, catering, waste disposal, maintenance, and air conditioning.Source and/or create management information and benchmarking data on infrastructure, equipment, IT, software, subscriptions, and other mandatory requirements.In consultation with Finance, prepare an annual operations budget and exercise financial delegation for operations expenditure (including procurement, approvals, reconciliation etc.).Coordinate the planning and successful implementation of ISSR events, functions and workshops delivered at ISSR or offsite as required.Research and Training SupportSupport the Executive Committee to manage change within the Institute to ensure the effective implementation of University and/or Institute initiatives.Support the Deputy Director (Research) and the Research Leads in implementation and monitoring of researcher workload management and staff utilisation.Oversee administration and support for the Institute’s Higher Degree Research program in collaboration with the portfolio leads – Deputy Director (Training) and the Higher Degree Research Training Director.Oversee administration and support for the Institute’s Training portfolio program in collaboration with the Deputy Director (Training).Lead the development and implementation of a suite of standard operating procedures for the Institute.This is a full-time or part-time (0.8 FTE), fixed term position for up to 3 years, with the possibility of renewal. At HEW Level 8, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range of $108,975 to $122,176 plus a generous super allowance of 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be up to $127,500 to $142,946 annually. As these roles are covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases in line with the Enterprise Agreement.About YouPostgraduate qualifications, or progress towards postgraduate qualifications, with extensive relevant experience; or extensive experience and management expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and training.Proven ability to manage operational logistics relating to facilities, equipment, HSW and personnel management.Broad knowledge of financial administration, budget planning and procurement policies/procedures.Highly developed written and oral communication skills, and the ability to negotiate complex issues, manage change, and communicate with diverse groups.Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team environment, using initiative, judgement and discretion ensuring the provision of quality, high level customer service.Demonstrated human resource management skills including planning, workload management, performance management, recognition, and development of staff.Ability to effectively manage a team and work effectively with others (including those not directly under supervisory line management), and proactively liaise across related functional areas of the University.Desirable:Sound knowledge of university organisation structures and a broad understanding of university corporate systems or a capacity to rapidly gain such knowledge.Knowledge of project management methodologies and the ability to apply them in relation to communication and/or research tasks.In addition, the following mandatory requirements apply:Work Rights: You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply.
