Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) is responsible for providing primary and secondary health care for people living in the Auburn, Blacktown, and The Hills Shire, Holroyd and Parramatta Local Government Areas (LGAs) and tertiary care to residents of the Greater Western Region. We are committed to our vision of 'better health services for the people of western Sydney and beyond' and to the delivery of health care or related services in line with our core values of collaboration, openness, respect and empowerment.What you'll be doingThe Aboriginal Health Services Manager is responsible for coordination and delivery of specified Aboriginal Health Services across Western Sydney Local Health District, including day to day operational management of staff and resources. The position will be responsible for ensuring the provision of a range of high-quality preventative, early intervention and treatment services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across WSLHD.Benefits of working for Western Sydney Local Health District

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in health or a health-related discipline and / or relevant experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Demonstrated management and leadership skills including demonstrated skills and experience in staff supervision and management, service planning and project management and a demonstrated ability to ensure a culturally safe and culturally appropriate workplace
  • Demonstrated understanding of the issues and health needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and of current legislative requirements, policies and practice in relation to these issues
  • Proven capacity to provide leadership to assist services or organisations to respond to the health needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, consult and negotiate effectively with senior executives, management, health staff, and external stakeholders including high level oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated effective planning, organisational, problem-solving skills and ability to lead in a changing environment, to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
  • Current driver’s licence valid in NSW
