About the role
Grampians Health is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Social Worker for the role of Grade 2 Children and Young Person Counsellor/Advocate at the Ballarat Centre Against Sexual Assault. This is a permanent role of up to 64 hours per fortnight.Primary clinical responsibilities include trauma-informed therapeutic treatment of children and young people exhibiting harmful sexual behaviours; contribution to the after-hours roster.Sound knowledge and experience in undertaking psychosocial assessments, well developed communication skills and the ability to advocate and work collaboratively in the pursuit of client are required. Experience in working in community and healthcare settings with an emphasis on sexual assault and family violence would be a highly regarded attribute.You will enjoy a friendly and supportive place to work where there is a strong commitment to providing high quality evidence-based care.   • Essential : A Degree in Social Work, with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers or equivalent
  • Desirable : Minimum of 5 years' experience in counselling, casework and/or case management.
  • Desirable : Demonstrated ability to work effectively across the CASA target group, particularly children and young people, utilising trauma-informed treatment modalities.
  • Desirable : Demonstrated ability to monitor, evaluate and modify own performance.
  • Desirable : Knowledge of Victorian Mandatory Reporting requirements, MARAM, Child safe standards
  • Desirable : Experience in Supervision of Junior Staff. Ability to provide supervision of Social Work and Welfare students on placement.
  • Desirable : Demonstrated skills in groupwork, community development and community education.
  • Desirable : Basic computer skills such as word processing and proven ability in report-writing
  • Desirable : Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and as a member of a team.
  • Desirable : Knowledge and understanding of issues surrounding sexual assault, family violence, problem and harmful sexual behaviours and the contributing factors.

  • Essential : The successful candidate must hold, or be prepared to undergo, an employee Working with Children Check (WWCC). Please advise if you currently hold an employee WWCC, if not are you willing to undergo one?
