They excel in sales, product delivery and service to their long standing and reputable client base.Reporting to the General Manager Legal and Governance you will have a lead role supporting and advising the organisation on legal, risk management and insurance matters.Due to an internal promotion, you will have direct reports and the opportunity to work collaboratively across the business. Your role will encompass.
  • Oversee the day-to-day workload and work product of designated employees within the Legal team.
  • Review, assess and provide advice on legal risks associated with contracts, tenders and pre-contractual documentation.
  • Advise on and actively manage legal disputes and litigation including preparation of strategy, pleadings and other court documents.
  • Lead a 'whole of organisation' approach to risk management.
  • Identify risks in day-to-day business, develop and implement suitable risk mitigation strategies.
  • Manage insurance program for Australia and New Zealand
  • Educate and train business operators and provide advice on the application of regulatory requirements and best practice methodologies in managing legal and compliance risks.
To successfully manage this opportunity, you will have
  • Ideally 8- 10 years of post-admission experience practising as a Solicitor in an in-house role coupled with experience form a reputable law firm
  • Experience in contract drafting, contract reviews, contract negotiations, advising on disputes and conducting litigation, advising on general legal issues and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to interpret legal issues/advice and contract terms and communicate them clearly and succinctly
  • Experience in coordinating projects involving multiple stakeholders and discrete timeframes
  • Ability to produce reports, including recommendations for Executive Management
  • Sound understanding of insurance programs including placement, coverage, matters impacting premium calculations, claims process and available products on the market
  • Self-motivated, goal oriented and willing to take ownership and responsibility for own actions
