ALS Coal at Richlands is currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Geologist to join our team. This hands-on role involves both field and laboratory work, supporting coal seam gas assessment projects. You will gain practical experience across a range of geological tasks and contribute to key operations within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.Key Responsibilities:Conduct field-based geological activities, including core and cuttings sampling, gas desorption analysis, and gas composition sample collectionPerform detailed core and cuttings logging, data entry, and compilation of drill hole informationPrepare final geological logs and gas desorption reportsCarry out laboratory-based gas desorption testing, along with equipment calibration and maintenanceAssist with mobilisation/demobilisation of teams and equipment to and from siteParticipate in the rig-up and rig-down of field equipmentMaintain confidentiality across all projects and company operationsRequirements:Willingness to work flexible hours, including extended shifts (12–14 hours), weekends, public holidays, and travel as required (local and interstate)Ability to work in varying field conditions and climatesTertiary Qualifications in Geology or Earth ScienceStrong attention to detail and a proactive work ethicExcellent communication and team collaboration skillsExperience in collecting and analysing desorbing gas from coal core· High level analytical skills with an attention to detail· Experience working on a drill rigThis role is ideal for someone looking to kick-start or further their geology career with a company that values hands-on fieldwork, teamwork, and professional development.Working at ALSThe ALS team is a diverse and dedicated community united by our passion to make a difference in the world.Our values are important to us, and shape how we work, how we treat each other and how we recognise excellence.At ALS, you’ll be supported to develop new skills and reach your full potential.
