The breadth of creative work that we do in the design team makes coming to work every day exciting and fulfilling.We are looking for a Senior Product Designer in Melbourne. In this role, you will lead the user experience and interface design for our web platform and mobile applications. Working in cross-functional sprint teams and collaborating with science writers, designers and engineers, you will work on product features for our in-classroom software, content and class management tools and analytics features.We aspire to provide everything schools and teachers need to facilitate a world-class science education. Creating useful, intuitive tools that enhance the teaching and learning experience is what this role is about. We are very considerate about the kinds of technology and experiences we are introducing to classrooms and ensure that they are never just for technology’s sake. Good design is critical to this mission.Here are some of the things you’ll be doing to help revolutionise science education:
  • Designing features to enhance the classroom experience of teaching and learning
Working with the Head of Design and the Product Engineering teams to build tools on our web-app that make teaching and learning easier, more effective and more fun!
  • Building a robust and flexible design system
We have quite a primitive design system and we want to make it amazing to design with and build with. You’ll work on integrating Figma and our codebase to ensure what you are designing is what ends up on the screen.
  • Co-design with teachers and students
We are really lucky to have a large group of teachers on our team that have used Stile in the classroom as well as a few students that are also now employees! We also have open channels and access to teachers and students for user research and testing.
  • Working with an amazing, multi-disciplinary team of creatives
We work on so many different things in the Studio team. Beyond your product design responsibilities there will be opportunities to collaborate with our team of designers, illustrators and videographers on a wide range of projects. From event and physical experiences, our in-lesson escape rooms and simulations amongst a few other exciting things we get up to.If you’re a passionate designer looking to have an impact on the education of the next generation and support teachers doing their incredibly important work, this might just be the perfect role.The DetailsAbout you
  • You bring a minimum of 5 years of product design experience with a strong portfolio of end-to-end projects.
  • You have experience working closely with software engineers and may have even worked on changing legacy design systems.
  • You are an expert in interface patterns and have excellent visual design skills.
  • You have experience with user research and usability testing.
  • You can build a team of designers to work on multiple product streams.
