KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Uplift and change the culture around UX practice across the organisation by embedding human-centred design principles, mentoring teams, and fostering a user-first mindset that drives innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Apply best-practice UX techniques to major digital transformation programs, ensuring solutions are user-validated, accessible, and aligned with strategic business outcomes.
  • Deliver user-driven insights through research and analysis with internal and external users, resulting in digital solutions that improve satisfaction, usability, and adoption.
  • Design and validate intuitive digital interfaces that enhance task efficiency and accessibility, leading to measurable improvements in user engagement and reduced support needs.
  • Advise key stakeholders (internal and external) on UX trade-offs to support informed decision-making, balancing user needs, technical feasibility, and business value.
  • Ensure UX policies, processes, and standards are understood, followed, and actively managed, resolving issues and driving consistency across all digital initiatives.
  • Provide technical governance over external vendor delivery, ensuring alignment with Sydney Wateru0027s UX standards, quality expectations, and accessibility requirements.
  • Define and measure experience outcomes in business cases to demonstrate the value of UX and support investment decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with government and internal accessibility standards, delivering inclusive digital experiences that meet legal and policy obligations.
  • Gain a deep understanding of the organisationu0027s capabilities and business processes, while continuously monitoring solution performance and identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Leverage a sound understanding of technology to work effectively with deeply technical specialists to uplift the Digital Experience whilst bridging the gap between useru0027s needs and advanced technical solutions.
  • Proactively manage complex projects with tight timeframes, while ensuring existing systems are fully supported through all phases of change, demands strong coordination and adaptability in a high-pressure environment.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
  • Undergraduate degree in Information Systems, Digital Systems or related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 yearsu0027 experience as a UX or Digital Specialist.
  • Familiarity with current design tools and techniques including the creation of wireframes, high-fidelity and low-fidelity prototypes
  • Knowledge of usability patterns, information architecture principles and their application
  • Demonstrated experience in analysing user experiences and translating into solutions, with strong customer empathy balanced with a sound commercial approach.
  • Experience in guiding user testing to assist with design decisions
  • Sound working knowledge of IT delivery management principles and frameworks including working within an Agile team.
  • Highly skilled at working with multiple stakeholders (internal, partner, software vendor).
  • Highly organised and must have an ability to work in ambiguous circumstances.
  • Effective negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
  • Ability to manage the competing demands of multiple projects in a timely manner.
  • Ability to influence and build productive relationships with technical teams, vendors and stakeholders.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organisation.
  • Demonstrated skill in delivering clear and convincing presentations, including with senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience with, IT delivery best practice including Software Development Lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated experience of the assimilation of complex business requirements and translating into solutions, with a strong commercial approach to the implementation of solutions and the total cost of ownership.
  • Sound working knowledge of IT delivery management principles and frameworks.Highly organised and must have an ability to work in ambiguous circumstances.
  • Effective leadership, coordination, motivational, negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
