About NganampaNganampa Health Council (NHC) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation and for over 40 years has been delivering high-quality primary health care across the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands in the far northwest of South Australia. Home to approximately 3,000 residents, the APY Lands border the Northern Territory and Western Australia. Anangu culture is strong and Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara are first languages.About the TeamCommunity Programs brings together the environmental health and welfare program Uwankara Palyanyku Kanyintjaku, the Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) program and the Anangu Workforce Development Program (AWD). It’s a newly formed team focussed on strengthening Nganampa’s Anangu workforce and it’s second responder program, and the active involvement of Anangu in the management and operation of the Health Council’s programs.About the RoleReporting to the Health Services Manager, you will lead a multi-disciplinary team to implement and improve programs that address environmental and social factors impacting health and wellbeing outcomes for Anangu, as well as public health initiatives such as the Tackling Indigenous Smoking Program. You'll oversee workforce development initiatives to create employment and training pathways for Anangu and that continue to ensure the safety and security of staff in daily and after-hours operations.About youYou will bring experience leading community-based public health or workforce development programs, ideally within Indigenous and remote settings, along with an understanding of government and philanthropic funding in the areas of public, environmental or Indigenous health and wellbeing. You will be an experienced leader with a considered and collaborative approach, and a track record in delivering effective programs.
You will have:
  • Strong intercultural engagement skills and the ability to build trust and meaningful relationships
  • A committed mentoring and coaching approach to employee management
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including government agencies, funding bodies, and community organisations and groups
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt in dynamic, cross-cultural, remote working environments
  • Experience in program analysis and design, impact reporting, and project management
  • A strong focus on and commitment to fostering Indigenous self-determination
