Access theWhat you'll do
- Use and maintain equipment correctly, reporting damages/faults promptly.
- Collect specimens from reception.
- Prepare samples for analysis and storage.
- Prepare basic solutions under the direction of scientific staff and perform technical tasks under supervision.
- Record temperatures of freezers, cold room, incubators, water baths or others as indicated.
- Monitor stock levels of consumable items as required.
- Ensure your compliance with the correct use and storage of chemicals and hazardous substances, and identify and report hazards in a timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise and organise workloads.
- Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner with or without direct supervision.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work co-operatively as part of a team.
- An awareness of the need for a high standard of performance in all aspects of work in a medical laboratory and a commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement.
- Compliance with and utilisation of human resource management requirements and practices, including workplace, health and safety, equal opportunity and anti-discrimination requirements.
- While not mandatory, a Certificate III or IV in Pathology (Laboratory Assistance) or equivalent would be well regarded.
