Alkimos College is seeking to appoint a committed and passionate Program Coordinator – Learning Support to lead the college’s Learning Support program. This is a newly created role that will work closely with the Program Coordinator – Specialised Autism Learning Program.Located in the northern suburb of Alkimos with sweeping ocean views, Alkimos College opened in 2020 with our foundation Year 7 cohort, providing local intake area students with access to an exceptional secondary education in world-class learning facilities. Each year we have added an additional cohort and will reach our full complement of Year 7 -12 in 2025.Stage 1 buildings include administration, lower school student services, library, gymnasium, fitness centre, food studios, cafeteria, IT labs, technologies workshops, general classrooms, science laboratories, and nature play area. Shared oval and community facilities with the City of Wanneroo are available via the adjacent Halesworth Park precinct. Stage 2 (rolled out in 2024), includes a new SALP centre (Home Room and SALP classroom), performing arts centre, lecture theatre, senior school student services centre and general classrooms.Find out more about our school by visiting orThe RoleWe are seeking a dynamic individual with the passion and commitment to the moral purpose of ‘success for every student, everyday’.The successful applicant should display the capacity to provide effective leadership skills and professional knowledge in supporting students, staff and parents across a range of learning support capacities. To be considered for this role, you will ideally be skilled in the completion and review of individual disability allocations and the development of profiles and education plans for Students at Educational Risk (SAER) and the completion of the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) Equity Access Arrangement applications.As you would be working closely with the Specialised Autism Learning Program, your role would include managing and collecting data for the National Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD), School of Special Educational Needs (SSEN) reporting for identified students.The desired applicant will ideally have high quality presentation skills and a proven track record of delivering effective professional learning for teachers. In addition, the ability to line manage Education Assistants, oversee the Learning Support Leads and teachers of ‘Focus’ classes, as well as provide additional learning support across the school, will be viewed favourably.The key responsibilities of the Program Coordinator – Learning Support may include:
  • Working closely with the Program Coordinator – Specialised Autism Learning Program
  • Line management of Education Assistants
  • Oversee Learning Support Lead Teachers
  • Support teachers of learning support ‘Focus’ classes
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and review individual education plans, CPFS plans and group education plans
  • Submission of Disability Resourcing applications, disability reviews and checklists
  • Case management of students with diagnosed conditions, including diagnosis documentation, family and outside agencies liaison, and teacher communication
  • Whole school strategic planning in related areas such as transition, professional learning, parent and community engagement and NDIS
  • Systemic analysis of data and system processes
  • Collaboration with relevant school leaders and staff with regard to assessment adjustments and applications
  • Ensure Education Assistants maintain their capacity to support teachers appropriately based on student and classroom needs using contemporary approaches and ongoing learning.
  • Continue to develop an inclusive approach to students with additional needs, whilst maintaining support, care and monitoring student progress
  • Conduct regular meetings for the Learning Support team
  • Maintaining and updating the National Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD)
  • Build the capacity of staff and enable the school to become more inclusive of students with diverse learning needs.
  • Managing the transition process from Year 6 to Year 7 for students with identified special needs.
  • Liaising with SSEN visiting teachers
  • Work with the intake primary schools for Year 6 transition
The successful applicant will ideally display exceptional strategic planning and operational management skills to support working in a shared, collaborative arrangement with staff. The ability to provide professional leadership, build the capacity of staff and promote inclusivity and positive educational outcomes for students is highly regarded. As part of the college Leadership team, you would contribute strategically to whole school planning and need to show commitment to the college’s instructional framework and Alkimos Approach.Ideally, you will also have highly developed conceptual and analytical skills with the ability to provide innovative solutions to strategic and complex problems and issues, along with highly developed leadership and management skills in motivating and developing staff.
