An exciting opportunity for Research Assistant- Clinical Studies exists within the Dept. Infectious Diseases at the Peter Mac. We run a National Centre for Infections in Cancer which aims to minimise risk of infections in cancer. We have a number of investigator initiated and pharmaceutical company sponsored clinical studies for novel anti-infection drugs, infection prophylaxis and novel diagnostic tests that are run by a team of senior clinicians and research nurses at the Peter Mac and Royal Melbourne Hospital. The position will primarily be responsible for study co-ordination, data entry and extraction and management of investigator and sponsor databases. To effectively manage PMCC Dept ID clinical studies databases
- Maintain REDCAP databases for individual studies as directed by the PIs.
- Ensure data is collected in paper and or online form as dictated by the study and entered into the relevant database in a timely manner
- Participate in study monitoring/auditing internally and externally as required in order to meet the regulatory and scientific requirements
- Maintain a flexible approach to working hours in order to meet the requirements of research protocols and subject recruitment.
- Able to make appropriate professional autonomous decisions as required & seek clarification where necessary.
- Liaise with all involved groups/departments to ensure all samples and data are collected, processed, stored as per the protocol requirements
- Able to maintain effective communication processes with investigators, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure information is appropriately documented and shared.
- Ensure that studies are undertaken in accordance with the terms approved by the trial sponsor, institutional ethics committee and the NHMRC National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Research Involving Humans.
- Uses practice guidelines and study specific documentation to ensure that data is recorded accurately and in accordance with regulatory requirements.
