- Desktop structural assessment and load rating of existing structures, including transport infrastructure (bridges, culverts), ports and marine structures and more
- Design of repair, rehabilitation and strengthening works to existing structures
- On-site condition assessment (Level 2 and Level 3 Inspection). Recording structural details, assessing condition state, identifying deterioration mechanisms and signs of structural distress, and completing non-destructive testing where necessary
- Contribute to risk management and asset management planning
- Building strong relationships with clients and colleagues alike
- Project management of small consulting projects, including safety, time, cost, quality and client experience
- A Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Structural) as a minimum. Post-graduate qualifications in a relevant area will be advantageous but are not essential
- Grad to approx 8 years professional experience in inspection, structural assessment, design and/or construction of civil structures
- CPEng or working towards it
- A sound technical understanding of structural engineering first principles and experience in applying these principles to solve engineering problems
- Experience with structural analysis software (such as Spacegass, Midas Civil or Strand 7)
- A desire to learn and further develop technical skills in the area of structural inspection and assessment of existing infrastructure, including load assessment, remaining life assessment, repair and rehabilitation design and strengthening design
- A willingness to travel from time to time to complete on-site structure inspections
- High level of verbal and written communication skills, including an ability to simplify complexity, understand technical details without losing sight of the big picture and communicate technical matters in simple terms to a non-technical audience
- Previous experience in the inspection, structural assessment, design and/or construction of bridge structures would be advantageous
