About the Centre and the OpportunitySt John’s Child Care Centre is a not-for-profit organisation operating as part of Uniting Early Learning. The Centre provides a long day care for 44 children from birth to five years, including a preschool program. The Centre is committed to providing the best education and care for children, and is rated as exceeding the National Quality Standard (NQS).The Centre has been operating for 30 years and has maintained a high reputation in the local community. It continues to be a sought-after service for local families, creating positive impact on the community, qualifying as a finalist in Local Business Awards in the category of Child Care Services in 2021. The Centre is proud of having high staff retention and longstanding families.A willingness to strengthen and continue close relations with the local Uniting church would be well regarded.In this role you will be working in the toddler room with ages 2 - 3years old. You will be working in a room of 15 children and collaborating with 3 other educators in the room.The shift times of this position vary as it is a rotating roster and you will need to be available anytime between 7:30am - 6pm.Your work may include:
  • Contribute to the development of the educational programs which reflect the approved learning framework and NQS.
  • Developing positive and respectful relationships that support children, their families and community.
  • Facilitating play-based learning environments that are responsive to children’s interest, strengths, and abilities.
  • You’ll guide and support educators to implement the program and philosophy for the children.
Who we’re looking for
  • Bachelor Teaching / Early Childhood Education
  • Experience working in Early Learning
  • Possibility of shared Educational Lead role, depending on experience.
  • A work history that demonstrates recording observations, writing learning stories and supporting the planning of a successful curriculum using the Early Years Learning Framework.
  • Understand the National Quality Framework and EYLF
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, families and community members
  • You’ll be adaptable, empathetic and resourceful, and be able to live Uniting’s everyday values of being compassionate, respectful, imaginative, and bold.
