By ensuring sound decisions and efficient management, we strive to create sustainable, well-planned communities offering safe and affordable housing options.Join us in our endeavour to address one of the most pressing challenges of our time and make a tangible difference in the lives of our community.The Role:The Senior Building Surveyor provides significant expert advice and undertakes tasks on a range of projects and programs that develop and implement building-related technical and compliance matters. The key focus areas for this role include understanding state building control, associated Codes and standards and related local government and private sector administrative processes. You will hold the following responsibilities:
- Contribute expert advice to the development of professional standards, objectives, and priorities for DHUD programs, projects, and services, including supporting change initiatives.
- Conduct research and analysis to resolve complex issues and support the effective management of assigned programs, assets, and systems.
- Lead and manage complex projects, including resource planning, setting work priorities, and motivating teams to achieve performance standards.
- Deliver high-impact professional duties, applying innovative approaches to support DHUD’s strategic goals and service delivery.
- Capacity to work collaboratively to build cooperation, implement change, mitigate risk and encourage open communications for the sharing of knowledge across teams/units.
- Understands stakeholder perspectives, utilises effective verbal and written communication skills and drives solutions to complex challenges in a timely manner, working within applicable policies and frameworks.
- Well-developed analytical and research skills to evaluate and analyse complex faults and information, provide specialised professional advice and consultancy, and develop clear reports with recommendations in an environment of competing priorities.
- A recognised degree or recognised post graduate qualification in architecture, engineering, building surveying, construction management, building, public policy, law or related discipline.
- Accreditation (or eligibility) as an Accredited Professional - Building Level 1, Building Level 2 or Building Level 3 in South Australia.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the National and State-based statutory instruments that form part of the Building Rules in SA including the National Construction Code.
