Our purpose drives what we do, to create better days and a place at the table for everyone through our trusted food brands.Based in our Manufacturing Plant at Botany, the site that produces our expansive range of ready-to-eat cereals, the role of Environment & Safety Engineer develops and implements our environmental and sustainability initiatives. You will also lead & design environmental management and engineering for capital and safety projects.As an organization we have a number of environment and sustainability goals, one of which is for 100% of packaging to be reusable, recyclable or compostable by 2025, this position plays a significant role here in Australia for us achieving this goal and is one of the many impactful projects you will be a part of in this role.A taste of what you'll be doing:
  • Co-designing and developing the ANZ Environmental strategy in conjunction with the Technical Manager to ensure compliance to the National, State and Local regulations; Kellogg policy and procedures as per the Kellogg EHS Management System.
  • Responsible for the environmental management of Botany Plant including the proposal and design solutions for water, waste and emissions management and control
  • Developing and implementing environmental sustainability programs and initiatives, working collaboratively with our sites across ANZ, including co-manufacturers
  • Leading and supporting the design and execution of engineering based environmental capital projects.
  • Preparation and submission of annual regulatory report for the various governing bodies
  • Providing technical advice on current utility and trade waste related preventative / predictive maintenance programs.
  • Working with local / state / federal agencies on environment matters, as needed and represents Kellogg in various external industry and local community forums.
  • Conducting environment and safety audits to ensure a high standard of workmanship, both in documentation and job execution including all internal & external environmental reporting and licensing requirements.
Your recipe for success:
  • Degree or Post Graduate qualifications in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, coupled with previous experience in a similar role within a manufacturing or related facility.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing technical guidance and support on various capital projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication ability which encourages teamwork and idea generation while remaining focused on results and process improvement.
  • Must be able to balance conflicting priorities and still provide the organisation with clear direction and focus
  • Project management skills
  • Drive for a safe working environment and ensure compliance with all local, state and federal policies and legislation (Work Cover, DECC, Environmental).
  • Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001) (preferred)
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety (advantageous)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other applicable computer software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, coupled with the ability to influence at various levels and build strong relationships at all levels
