- Provides technical knowledge and skills for flow cytometry and immunology based testing services for clinical trials.

The new model for delivering public pathology services will present an exciting opportunity to improve the scope, scale and reach of pathology services and testing capability to all Victorians.As this role is with Nexomics - Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, the successful candidate for this role will be initially employed by Nexomics - Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. Once the new public pathology entity is fully formed, which is anticipated to be in late 2024, this position and the successful candidate's employment (including terms and conditions of employment) will transition to the new public pathology entity. EducationBachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science or Medical LaboratorySkillsCertifications, Licenses & RegistrationsKey Accountabilities1. Provision of immunology and flow cytometry assays in the clinical trial environment
-Providing immunology assay testing using various platforms including blood cell isolation, ELISA, Luminex, flow cytometry and cell culture, harvest and fixation techniques.
-Daily task management of the immunology team in consulation with the Lead Scientist.
-Smooth and efficient operation of daily workflow, including specimen receipt, tracking, test performance and results reporting.
-Demonstrates an understanding of customer service for internal and external clients and is committed to effectively accommodating their requirements in a helpful and professional manner.
-Ensure turn-around-times are met.
-Development and application of methods and technologies.
-Successful and comprehensive QAP participation in local and international programmes.
-Liaises with haematologists and pathology staff to ensure a high quality clinical trials service.
-Assist with providing quotes and budgets as required.
2. Participation in the validation and implementation of new clinical trial assays
-Participates and leads the validation of new clinical trial assays eg. Immunology, flow cytometry, etc.
-Preparation of standard operating procedures and training of staff in clinical trial assays as required.
-Preparation of validation protocols and reports.
3. Supports an active and effective training and development program
-Staff are appropriately skilled and trained such that there is continuity of service delivery
-Monitors staff competency with up to date procedures, and applying fully validated materials and equipment and procedures.

-Successful implementation of new technologies, tests and workplace practices as required.
-Successfully manages multiple projects to meet clients expectations
-Introduction of new approaches to achieve better integration of service delivery.
-Delivery of methodology and equipment validations to international benchmarks.

5. Maintenance of laboratory supply inventory and equipment
-Maintenance of equipment, reagent supplies and control tissue stocks as directed
-All equipment is operated and maintained in accordance with laboratory manuals and procedures.
-Ensures the maintenance records of laboratory equipment are kept according to laboratory protocols.
6. Uses the laboratory quality system for processing and testing of all samples and has a basic understanding of the clinical implications of laboratory results.
-Ensures the appropriate identification and labelling of specimens and request forms, processing of all specimens for assay or dispatch to other laboratories, data entry of all relevant patient and testing information.
-Maintains the study regulatory binders.
-Contacts the relevant client or other staff when additional information is required or specimens cannot be processed according to the clinical trial protocol.
-Is familiar with the internal and external quality control activities within the laboratory and complies with the relevant QC protocols.
