We’re doing it with our customers and communities as Australia’s energy infrastructure partner, a role our unique experience and expertise positions us to play.We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Process Engineer Optimisation to join us in our Engineering and Technical Solutions team in Brisbane, QLD on a Permanent Full Time basis.Reporting to the Team Lead - Optimisation and Control Systems, you will play a key role in supporting the safe, secure, and efficient operation of APA’s gas transmission assets, working alongside APA’s Controllers in the Integrated Operations Centre.Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with operations teams.
  • Champion process safety fundamentals and promote risk-based decision-making.
  • Support emissions reduction initiatives and business processes that contribute to APA’s 2050 Net Zero carbon targets.
  • Provide day-to-day frontline operational support to the Integrated Operations Centre (IOC) and Control Room team.
  • Influence and manage stakeholders effectively, including negotiating mutually agreeable outcomes.
Your background
  • Tertiary qualification in Chemical Engineering, with eligibility for corporate membership of IChemE, Engineers Australia, or equivalent.
  • Previous oil and gas industry experience, highly regarded.
  • Proven experience with safety management systems, change management, and leading risk assessments including safeguards identification and monitoring.
  • Proficiency with data historian (e.g., OSI Pi), analytics (e.g., Python, Excel), visualisation (e.g., Power BI, Pi Vision), or simulation tools (e.g., HYSYS, DNVGL Synergi Gas).
  • Experience as a process engineer in operational support, with strong data, analytical, and modelling capabilities.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality outcomes within the time constraints of an operational environment.
