About the Business Unit:Police, Racing, Victims and Coordination (PRVC) group is responsible for leading key policy reform and programs across the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS). It enhances community safety and wellbeing through public policy, governance, legislative advice, reform and grants, bringing together all policy and reform functions aligned to the Police, Crime Prevention, Victims and Racing portfolios.Ministerial Services, Policy Reform and Programs (MSPRP) comprises several business units, including: Ministerial Services and Coordination, Policy Reform and Programs and Redress Implementation. These business units will be responsible for providing critical departmental and Ministerial coordination support and delivering essential family violence programs and crime prevention grants. MSPRP is responsible for delivery of priority justice policy reforms in line with departmental and Ministerial priorities. It will also lead on crime prevention, family violence and the public intoxication reforms. MSPRP teams will be required to work in a dynamic environment, requiring agile policy teams to respond to key priorities as they arise.About the Role:An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ongoing Senior Policy Officer role in the Ministerial Services, Policy Reform and Programs business unit.As a Senior Policy Officer you will be responsible for delivering strategic coordination and engagement functions across the department. You assist on projects to progress coordination, stakeholder engagement and intergovernmental strategy to shape authoritative advice to Ministers and departmental executives.This includes coordinating briefings for Ministers and departmental executives for the Public Accounts and Estimates Committee (PAEC), ministerial council meetings and stakeholder engagements. This also includes coordinating briefings for Ministers and departmental executives to respond to independent inquiries such as Royal Commissions.Some of your duties will include:

Leading, with limited direction, department-wide coordination and engagement activities that assist in the development of strategic coordination advice to relevant Ministers and departmental executives on a wide variety of issues
Providing sound expertise to a team working on key coordination activities, to ensure development of considered briefings, advice and delivery of project objectives
Ensuring that programs and projects are successfully delivered, through proactively identifying and managing project risks, and by designing and implementing systems and frameworks to effectively manage project deliverables.

Strong conceptual and analytical skills with a particular ability to analyse complex policy issues and provide accurate and strategic advice
Sound knowledge of Government and of Cabinet and Parliamentary processes

Qualifications/Requirements:

A tertiary qualification in a related discipline would be highly desirable.
