Job Title: Accounts Receivable Clerk (with Credit Control)
Location: Sydney CBD, Australia
Job Type: Full Time or Part Time depending on experience
Reports to: Financial Controller About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Receivable Clerk to join our finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the company’s accounts receivable ledger, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts, and supporting credit control activities. Your role will be vital in maintaining healthy cash flow and fostering strong relationships with our customers. Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day accounts receivable functions, including invoicing, payment allocations, and reconciliation of accounts.
  • Monitor customer accounts to identify overdue balances and follow up promptly via phone, email, or written correspondence.
  • Perform credit checks on new and existing customers and recommend appropriate credit limits.
  • Liaise with internal departments to resolve billing queries and disputes.
  • Issue monthly statements and reminders to customers in line with the company’s credit terms.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer records in the accounting system (Xero).
  • Prepare weekly and monthly A/R ageing reports and assist with cash flow forecasting.
  • Escalate high-risk or long-overdue accounts to management and assist in legal or debt recovery processes when required.
  • Support end-of-month reporting and audits as needed.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives to streamline receivables and credit control procedures.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in an Accounts Receivable and/or Credit Control role (minimum 2 years preferred).
  • Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards and credit control practices.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g. Xero, MYOB, SAP, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
