Job Description Client ProfileOpening late 2025, Happy Camper is the next chapter from Steve Jeffares, Co-Founder of Melbourne hospitality institutions The Local Taphouse and Stomping Ground Brewery & Beer Hall, as well as the renowned GABS Festival.Happy Camper aspires to be more than a stunning bar, restaurant and beer garden; it aims to deliver fun and creative hospitality and event experiences that inspire people to savour life’s moments, big and small, and find joy in the journey.Role ProfileWe’re looking for an exceptional General Manager, someone with a passion and drive for delivering excellent customer experiences — to lead from the front and set the tone from Day One.This is the most senior in-venue leadership position, reporting directly to the Founder. You’ll be the driving force behind the floor energy, the customer experience, and the smooth running of every service, while building a positive, high-performance team culture.Key Responsibilities;

Lead daily operations across the bar, restaurant and beer garden
Deliver a warm, professional and effortlessly cool guest experience
Recruit, develop and retain a high-performing, motivated team
Drive financial performance, hitting both quantitative and qualitative KPIs
Partner with the kitchen, bar, events and marketing teams to deliver a cohesive guest journey
Work closely with the Founder to shape culture, refine service, and evolve the venue over time
Bring fresh, creative ideas to keep the venue vibrant and relevant

Candidate Profile

5+ years’ experience managing busy, well-regarded venues
A calm, confident operator who thrives in dynamic, high-energy environments
Skilled at balancing relaxed, approachable hospitality with tight operational control
Proven ability to design and implement effective training and operational systems
A positive and inspiring leader who knows when to delegate and when to dive in
Passionate about great food, cold drinks and genuine connection
The kind of person who can make a night so good nobody wants to leave
