Drive complex infrastructure solutions that support patient care at Victoria's largest public health service.About the RoleMonash Health is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex electrical engineering solutions across our large and diverse healthcare infrastructure portfolio.Reporting to the Engineering and Infrastructure Senior Manager, this role is central to ensuring the safe, efficient, and sustainable operation of hospital assets, supporting everything from major capital projects to lifecycle asset renewal.You will lead asset management planning, provide expert technical advice, and ensure our electrical systems and services not only meet today's compliance and performance standards-but are future-ready to meet growing healthcare demands.Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of strategic electrical asset management plans, ensuring assets are safe, compliant, and optimised for lifecycle performance.
- Provide expert engineering guidance across major capital and infrastructure projects-from feasibility through to commissioning.
- Lead complex engineering initiatives across high-risk, high-value assets, ensuring minimal disruption to clinical services.
- Ensure compliance with OH&S, statutory regulations, and asset management frameworks such as AMAF.
- Manage consultants and contractors to ensure high-quality and cost-effective outcomes.
- Monitor and manage electrical infrastructure performance via the Asset Information Management System (AIMS) and other digital tools.
- Collaborate with operations and facilities management teams to address engineering challenges with sustainable, safe, and reliable solutions.
- Support Monash Health's emission reduction and energy management initiatives through innovation and design excellence.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 10+ years of relevant experience (preferably with exposure to healthcare projects)
- CPEng status or working towards accreditation
- Business or project management qualifications (desirable)
- Deep knowledge of LV and HV power systems, building services, and essential safety systems
- Proven track record in detailed electrical design, documentation, and technical calculations
- Experience working with Building Management Systems (e.g., Schneider, Johnson Controls)
- Excellent understanding of Australian Standards, Building Codes, and statutory requirements
- Ability to navigate complex design and compliance requirements in operational health settings
- Strong skills in project scoping, contractor management, budgeting, and risk mitigation
- Experience with asset management and maintenance programs within a regulated industry
- Outstanding problem-solving and decision-making ability
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills across all levels
