The hospital is a 300-bed public hospital that treats over 24,000 inpatients and over 225,000 outpatients every year. The hospital provides acute care services and is the primary referral centre for the North and North West regions of Tasmania. It is a teaching hospital for the University of Tasmania with a strong emphasis on medical education.The hospital provides a level 5 maternity service which sees about 1600 births per year. Women and Children's Services consist of a 6-bed Labour Ward, 27-bed Maternity Unit, 9-bed Level 2 Special Care Nursery and access to medical/surgical beds for Gynaecology patients. There are also visiting specialist clinics including urogynaecology and gynaecology oncology.
The Job

As a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, you will provide specialist care to public and private patients
You will be involved in research, quality improvement activities and undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
You will provide specialist advice to inpatient units as required
Consultants will provide supervision and guidance for junior medical staff and trainee medical officers
This is a fixed term full-time position

Requirements

Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) or equivalent
