- Australian/New Zealand Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident.
- Completed Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (Year 10/12).
- Current, unrestricted driver's license (with the ability to obtain a heavy rigid license).
- Current Provide First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011 or HTLAID014) at time of commencement on Recruit Course.
- Physically and mentally fit (must pass a physical aptitude test which includes a beep test with a pass score of 9.1 and aviation medical assessment).
