We have a unique and exciting opportunity to join our Water team in Sydney as an Associate Mechanical Engineer – Water. In this position, you’ll be responsible for leading the delivery of mechanical engineering services at the concept design phase as part of Sydney Water’s Planning Partnership. This role will be required to lead and manage challenging and complex water and wastewater projects throughout the planning and concept design phase of projects. This role will need to work as part of a partnership environment, working directly and collaborating with our partners and clients directly as an integrated team.At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive.   • Provide mentoring and support for other engineers working within the Sydney Water concept design team.
  • Assist in building opportunities to allow growth of the mechanical engineering discipline in the water sector.
  • Set and meet agreed budgets and deadlines. In addition, this role may be accountable for managing the financial performance of specified areas.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of longer-term strategic plans that will benefit the business.
  • Responsible for recruitment, appraisals, performance development, morale and motivation of staff/team within their own discipline as required.
What will I bring?
  • Ideally the individual successful in securing this role will be a chartered engineer who can provide support to others going through the process with Engineers Australia.
  • Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications in mechanical engineering or similar area.
  • Relevant mechanical engineering experience delivering concept and detailed designs across the water sector within a consulting business environment.
  • Preferably achieve M4 competency status within Sydney Water’s Competency Requirements, with the ability to take on a verifier role. M3 status may also be accepted.
  • Proven ability to uphold high standards in work, meticulously reviewing all aspects to ensure accuracy and completeness.
