Why not see where we can go?Job DescriptionAs an Actuarial Analyst for our Model Assurance team, you will be working with a dedicated and close-knit team to deliver key model review initiatives.In this role you will have the unique opportunity to make a change and become a champion for better data and modelling practices within TAL. Working from a first-principles approach, you will be able to challenge existing methodologies and models (including Prophet) to allow for improvement in the ways of working and sustainable model development.The role will have exposure to the breadth and depth of TAL's comprehensive suite of products, and you will be able to extract new insights in collaboration with your team and external teams such as in the Product and Pricing area. As part of model review, you will be working with entire portfolios of businesses and as such your findings can produce high-level impactful results for TAL.You will be presenting your findings to a range of key stakeholders in the business, from the model owners to the project sponsors at the general manager level.You will be working in a highly collaborative environment with your team, providing mutual support, peer-reviewing and problem-solving together during the team's project work.In addition, you will provide support on other initiatives beyond model review depending on the business' needs which can include within the data space.Key Accountabilities:
  • Enhance the internal risk mitigation framework of TAL through independent model and data reviews on actuarial and finance models
  • Support the business on projects to enhance the data and model capabilities of TAL
  • Report and present back to the business on key findings and insights
  • Explore creative solutions to model quality management and control
  • Maintain a balanced approach to risk and the application of risk management principles to all phases of conduct and implementation for project deliverables
  • Develop and maintain excellent communications with team members, customers and stakeholders
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of work experience in an actuarial or similar role, within the Life Insurance industry
  • A Tertiary qualification in actuarial science
  • A solid foundation in technical knowledge of Excel, with Prophet also being highly desirable
  • Financial reporting, valuation and/or modelling experience highly valued
  • Good analytical, problem solving, and documentation skills
  • Strong research, modelling, and self-learning skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail
