We welcome and encourage anyone who has a passion and curiosity for technology, automotive and innovation to join our growing team.The Role:AEV is looking for a talented Mechanical / Mechatronics Design Engineer to join our growing team.The candidate will report to our Engineering Manager – Mechanical & Mechatronics.You will lead design and development of hardware systems to be integrated into Applied EV products to demonstrate compliance to Applied EV’s system requirements and customer use cases.Starting from architectural system level requirements you will develop innovative robust engineering solutions at a component and sub-system design level, applying knowledge of detailed design, material selection and manufacturing techniques for low volume manufacturing.The core deliverable is to release designs, support their manufacture / procurement and to ensure both component and system level validation.Requirements
  • Support architecture and packaging reviews for area of expertise/ownership, provide criteria for acceptance in for each phase of product development.
  • Design innovative, integrated, and unique solutions to engineering problems with an ability to articulate your design concepts and constructively critique alternatives.
  • Develop and maintain component timing plans which align to master program timing. Escalate issues with proposed recovery proposal to mitigate overall program risk.
  • Support the establishment and ongoing maintenance of internal design standards.
  • Undertake DFMEA and DFMA to support design execution.
  • Develop and release manufacturing and assembly drawings.
  • Execute base level FEA where appropriate with support from FEA Lead.
  • Develop and execute unit level component tests liaising closely with the Integration & Test team.
Key Competencies:
  • A Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience and high proficiency with common engineering tools for CAD modelling, 2D and analysis. Siemens NX, Solidworks and Altair experience would be preference.
  • Skilled in the ability to identify, establish root cause and implement solutions for design or system related issue. Able to construct a clear understanding of the issue for communication within the engineering an program team domains.
  • Competent in global dimensioning and tolerances.
  • An ability to transpose customer level requirements and industry standards into design criteria for execution.
  • Experience and understanding of Product Release Cycle from prototype to production including key deliverables of each phase.
  • Knowledge and understanding of prototype and low volume production manufacturing processes.
  • Local and international collaboration from engineering design to component manufacturing. You will have a demonstrated capability of working with other engineering peers to design an optimised solution across an entire system.
  • Are skilled in mentoring others and knowledge capture and sharing to assist in capability growth within the engineering teams.
Other Useful Experience
  • Experience working closely with electrical and software engineering teams on safety critical systems with human interaction.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Industry experience in robotics, automotive or similar.
  • Execution experience in electric mobility technologies, thermal management (component and system level), body structures, chassis systems will be highly regarded.
  • Design or integration experience with high voltage systems.
  • Experience in prototyping / proto build events
