As a Data Scientist, you will be responsible for transforming complex data sets into actionable insights and providing data-driven solutions to drive business growth and innovation. Your expertise in statistical analysis, data visualisation and AI/ML (artificial intelligence and machine learning) will be used in extracting and communicating knowledge from large and diverse datasets.Specifically, your focus will be to help develop new products within the innovation team to ultimately bring innovative new concepts to market.Join our team and be part of a collaborative environment where you can contribute to the growth and success of Iress while further advancing your career in the exciting field of data science and AI/ML.Some of the awesome things you’ll be involved with:Data exploration and preparation: Collect and preprocesses datasets from various sources. Identify patterns and trends to formulate research questions.Statistical analysis: Apply statistical techniques and hypothesis testing to derive insights from data. Develop predictive models and classification algorithms to solve business problems.R+D: experiment with with AI / Ml model models that serve to offer speed of insight across datasets, make predictions and automate complex tasksArtificial intelligence and machine learning development: utilise algorithms and ML methodologies to build models for tasks such as classification, clustering, regression, recommendation systems etc. Create and extend ML frameworks and libraries to enable future problems to be solved more efficiently.Collaborating across the business: Collaborate with engineers, product managers and business analysts from the innovations team as well as the business units to ensure data science work is in alignment with the organisational goal.Keep abreast of developments in the field: Stay updated with the latest trends, tools, and techniques in data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.What you will bring:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field. A Ph.D. is a plus.At least 3 years experience as a data scientist, quantitative analyst or similar role.Experience in the financial services industry is necessary.Solid understanding of statistical concepts and methodologies, hypothesis testing, and experimental design.Proficiency in data visualisation tools such as Tableau, quicksight, Power BI, QlikView, Plotly or Microsoft Excel.Ability to write robust code in Python, R or Java along with experience in data manipulation and analysis using libraries like pandas, NumPy, and SciPy.Proficiency in utilising Databricks and AWS platforms is highly valued.Knowledge of machine learning techniques - supervised and unsupervised learning, reinforcement learning, neural networks, and deep learning architectures.Familiarity with machine learning frameworks and libraries - Tensorflow, Keras, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills.Why work with us?8 additional paid days per year to extend your weekendsHybrid workingGenerous cash bonus for every successful referralStarting school leave - 8.5 days of leave to assist your children with the transition to schoolUp to 26 weeks’ paid parental leave for primary carers (up to 4 weeks for secondary carers), and the ability to work part-time when returning to work3 days’ paid leave per year to participate in charity initiativesDiscounted health insurance premiumsAccess to learning and development programs through UdemyIress is committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive culture.
