Peabody is guided by seven core values: safety, customer focus, leadership, people, excellence, integrity and sustainability.About the roleReporting to the General Counsel - Australia, you will work closely with the General Counsel - Australia, other senior leaders and project teams to deliver strategic legal advice and solutions that support Peabody's commercial and operational goals. This role is based in Brisbane and offers the opportunity to work on high impact matters.Key responsibilities:
  • Provide legal support for mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and renewables projects.
  • Advise finance, marketing, procurement, and infrastructure teams.
  • Advise on competition law issues and litigation.
  • Assist with other legal matters as directed by the General Counsel - Australia.
The lifestyle:This position is offered on a Monday to Friday basis, working from our Fortitude Valley office with work from home options. Peabody offers flexible start / finish times and a 'redistributed working week' giving employees flexibility to finish at noon on Fridays.About You:We are looking for a pragmatic, commercially minded and collegiate lawyer who thrives in a fast-paced, hands on role. The successful candidate will have:
  • A degree in Law with a current Queensland practising certificate.
  • 10+ years of legal experience.
  • Experience in complex corporate transactions.
  • Project management skills and ownership of the work being performed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders and clients.
  • Strong business acumen, be solution focused and commercially minded.
  • Strong organizational, time management skills and attention to detail.
