Senior Landscape Assessment Officer
  • Salary $109,513.56 to $127,034.96 p/a + super
  • Permanent full time position – 35 hours per week

About Ku-ring-gai CouncilLocated just 16km north of the Sydney CBD, Ku-ring-gai is known for its distinctive natural beauty, heritage character, and commitment to environmental sustainability.As a Council, we aim to lead through innovation, uphold high development standards, and protect our unique local environment.We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Landscape Assessment Officer to join our Development and Landscape Assessments team.Reporting to the Team Leader Development & Landscape Assessments, your duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Undertake detailed landscape and tree assessments for development applications
  • Prepare clear, concise, and legally robust reports and recommendations
  • Provide expert advice to internal departments, applicants, and the public
  • Investigate complaints and non-compliant works, and recommend mitigating measures
  • Represent Council at Planning Panels, on-site inspections, and Land & Environment Court proceedings as required
  • Ensure compliance with Council’s Environmental Management System Policy and Corporate Standards & Procedures on environmental management practices
  • Mentor and support junior team members, contributing to a high-performing, collaborative team environment
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
  • Tertiary qualifications in Landscape Architecture or equivalent
  • Current Class C Driver’s Licence
  • OHS General Induction (White Card) for construction work in NSW
  • 3–5 years of professional experience in development assessment and analysis
  • Substantial experience in landscape architecture, urban design, and arboriculture
  • In-depth knowledge of NSW planning legislation and local government frameworks
  • Strong understanding of environmental management principles
  • High-level written and verbal communication, including report writing and customer interaction
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution abilities
