Southern Ecosystems Management is seeking skilled and motivated local individuals to assist on a number of projects in Central Victoria leading up to the end of financial year with scope to continue through spring 2024.Southern Ecosystems Management is a small but well-established Environmental management company based in Taradale, Central Victoria. We have secure and long-term contracts with a number of Local Governments within the region as well as ongoing works with other government authorities.We are seeking 2 motivated individuals to assist with large scale Willow removal works as well as walking track construction within the Kyneton area, there will also be opportunities to participate in Controlled burns, Weed control in high conservation value sites as well as revegetation.These roles would suit individuals currently studying Conservation and Land Management and/or who have a background in CLM or Landscape and Construction.We can offer suitable candidates an immediate start with 3-4 days of ongoing work per week up until EOFY and the potential for continuing work through the remainder of the year. For candidates who are interested and have formal Chainsaw operation qualifications, there is scope to work with our professional Arbourist undertaking more complex tree removal works.In addition to a genuine flexible working arrangement, Southern Ecosystems offers above award level rates of pay, support in developing your skills and career within the Environmental management field, as well as the opportunity to learn from a number of highly experienced and respected industry members.Key Selection Criteria:
  • Strong interest in indigenous flora and Natural resource management.
  • A demonstrated ability to work harmoniously and productively within a small team and to work independently if required.
  • A commitment to conservation and a desire for continued learning.
  • Good communication skills.
  • A strong work ethic and ability to self-motivate.
High level of physical fitness for:
  • Working in challenging terrain.
  • Working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Strenuous physical tasks such as Brush cutting/Chainsaw Operation, Knapsack spraying, Using hand tools and Planting.
The following skills and knowledge are highly desirable:
  • Previous experience in NRM.
  • Experience constructing walking tracks, boardwalks etc.
  • Advanced herbicide spraying experience and knowledge.
  • Use of larger machinery or plant such as tractors, small excavators etc.
  • MR drivers' licence.
  • OH&S White card.
  • ACUP.
