With a booming, culturally rich and diverse community, and less than an hour's drive from the CBD (still within the bounds of Myki and ride-sharing), Melbourne's North is fastNorthern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Physiotherapist to join the Northern Health Physiotherapy Department.About Northern Health:Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne's rapidly growing outer north.Services are provided through our five main campuses:Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn Centre, and Kilmore District Hospital.In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.About the Role:An exciting opportunity exists for a Grade 2 Physiotherapist with an interest in gerontology to join the Physiotherapy team at Northern Health Bundoora Centre.This opportunity will suit an experienced physiotherapist with sound clinical skills and a strong commitment to quality patient care.The Grade 2 Physiotherapist will have a leading role in ensuring excellence in client care and education of staff and students in the physiotherapy stream.The role includes the organisation, implementation, development and supervision of physiotherapy care and the promotion of best practice.The clinical caseload will vary depending on demand but can include a mix of neurological, musculoskeletal and general physiotherapy.The role predominantly involves assessing and treating patients on the Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) wards at Bundoora Centre.This role will supervise junior staff (Grade 1 Physiotherapist and/or Allied Health Assistants) and be involved in the supervision of physiotherapy students on placement.This role is a full time, permanent position at 80 hours per fortnight with a monthly accrued day off (ADO).To be successful in this role you will have:
  • A background with includes significant experience resulting in high level of clinical skills in Gerontology Physiotherapy
  • Proven ability to managing complex older population patients in the subacute setting
  • Experience and / or interest in the management and education of undergraduate physiotherapy students and junior staff
  • Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal skills including being able to consult and collaborate with other health professionals to provide integrated care
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and initiative in developing and promoting clinical care
  • Demonstrated effective verebal and written communication skills
  • Well developed skills in negotiation and conflict resolution
  • Proven ability to work well in an interdisciplinary team
