Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.Position Profile: The RPBG Wellbeing and Spiritual Care Officer (WSCO - previously known as Chaplain) is responsible for providing skilled, professional pastoral/spiritual care and wellbeing support for patients and their loved ones, and wellbeing support for RPBG staff. The WSCO’s role is to be with a person on the basis of their need; to explore with them questions and issues which are central to their quest to make meaning of their life or circumstances in that moment.The WSCO builds relationships of trust, respect and empathy, engaging the person in their own capacity to draw on their own spiritual wellbeing and/or religious resources for a greater degree of wholeness and sense of purpose.WSCOs employed by RPBG are deployed within the Centre for Wellbeing and Sustainable Practice (the Centre), which provides spiritual care and wellbeing support for patients and for staff, recognising that hospital staff work in a stressful environment and caring for our staff is critical to ensuring they can best support our patients. WSCOs builds supportive relationships with individual staff and staff teams in their clinical work areas, becoming a recognised member of the team providing patient care, working seamlessly between the dual roles of caring for both the carers and the ‘cared-for’ in each clinical unit.The Centre provides education courses for staff in wellbeing and self-care, team building, resilience and burnout. WSCOs are encouraged to actively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings in their clinical work areas and contribute to educating hospital staff in the importance of spiritual care in seeking physical, emotional and spiritual healing for our patients.Area Profile: (EMHS) The East Metropolitan Health Service (EMHS) comprises an extensive hospital and health service network that aims to maintain and improve the health and wellbeing of more than 670,000 Western Australians in its catchment area.Our hospital network works together to provide a combination of tertiary, secondary and specialist health care services including emergency and critical care, state trauma, elective and emergency surgery, general medical, mental health, inpatient and outpatient services, aged care, palliative care, rehabilitation and women’s, children’s and neonates services.The EMHS consists of Royal Perth Hospital; Armadale Health Service; Bentley Health Service; Kalamunda Hospital; St John of God Midland Public Hospital and a range of community and population health services.Royal Perth Hospital (RPH) is Perth’s inner city, tertiary adult hospital and part of the Royal Perth Bentley Group.
