Our diverse and skilled teams are engaged in major projects across Transport, Water, Energy and renewables sectors.The RoleWe are currently seeking a talented Pavement Engineer to join our Roads & Highways Team and help them deliver major transport infrastructure projects. This will be a senior role that will also focus on mentoring and managing our complement of developing engineers in our Melbourne office.With industry experience in planning, concept, and detailed pavement engineering design, you will play a key role in delivering major road & highway, ports and airport projects across our portfolio of projects.With a track record of achievement in a similar role, you will have gained your experience in an engineering design consultancy and have a passion for building trusted relationships to drive positive change, attract clients and play an influential role with new work opportunities.Suitable applicants will have/be:
  • Degree qualified – Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Engineering or similar)
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with public and private sector clients
  • Have extensive experience with pavement design standards and practices across different authorities. Additional interstate and international experience will be seen favourably.
  • Sound project management and hands-on experience, encompassing administrative, commercial and technical aspects.
  • Experience in the co-ordination, design and delivery of pavement projects within multi-disciplinary engineering projects
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Able to prepare and or review technical reports
  • Work effectively in a team environment

  • Provide input to the group business plan and implement the team’s components of the plan.

  • Manage the commercial performance of the team.
  • Effective management and leadership of the team to ensure optimal performance, resourcing, retention and professional development.
  • Provide input to projects at a project management and/or review level to achieve reliable project performance in terms of both timeliness and quality.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
  • In depth knowledge of the relevant Industry Standards and the application of these standards
  • Thorough understanding of the external Transport market and skills to translate this knowledge to strategies, projects and people.
  • High level communication skills, including negotiating and resolving highly complex commercial, technical and people matters.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and theories and capacity for continuous learning
  • Ability to lead and manage a local team
  • Actively participates in industry forums and workshops.
  • Strong leadership and motivational ability
  • Analytical, conceptual and creative thinking, coupled with customer orientation, proven management skills and commercial and business awareness
