We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which we work, and pay our respects to the Elders, past and present.About: The University of Melbourne is creating several innovation precincts in strategic locations around Victoria, including Fisherman's Bend and Melbourne Connect.These precincts will boost collaboration between academia and industry, integrating top-tier research, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, postgraduates, and experts in a dedicated space to catalyse impactful advancements and address significant societal challenges. They combine applied research, industry alliances, innovative education, and workforce training, focusing on sector growth, commercialisation, start-up creation, and community involvement.About the role: Working across the University, the Director Innovation Precincts works to foster a dynamic innovation ecosystem across the University of Melbourne's precincts, aiming to generate significant impacts on the university and the Victorian economy through new company formation, job creation, and community engagement.Tasked with recruiting partners, managing commercial tenancies, and leading program and service design, this role enhances collaboration between the university, its precincts, and external networks to boost research translation, student experiences, and teaching outcomes, thereby driving innovation and increasing university revenue. Overseeing strategy for research collaboration and co-location partnerships, particularly in key locations like Fisherman's Bend and Melbourne Connect, the Director leads a dedicated team, coordinating with university departments and external stakeholders to establish a thriving innovation environment and secure industry partnerships, underpinning the university's mission in innovation and enterprise.About you: You are a tertiary-qualified commercial professional with a proven track record in driving innovative commercial outcomes within industry and/or government.Intellectually curious and commercially savvy with a passion for building long-term partnerships, you have the business acumen and relevant experience needed to credibly represent the University in negotiations with senior industry executives and stakeholders.Knowledge of the commercial property sector and/or the Australian research and higher education ecosystem will be highly beneficial. Key to your success in this role will be your ability to build innovative interdisciplinary partnerships to drive win-win tenancy outcomes across a range of technical domains.To ensure the University continues to provide a safe environment for everyone, this position requires the incumbent to hold a current and valid Working with Children Check.This role requires current valid working rights for Australia.About the University of Melbourne
