This trusted advisor role is especially valuable as the Commonwealth invests in efforts to uplift innovation, enhance sovereign capabilities, bolster the defence industrial base, and contribute to the success of the Australia, United Kingdom, and U.S. tri-lateral agreement (AUKUS).MITRE | Australia supports the Commonwealth by delivering on MITRE’s core competencies including, but not limited to: systems engineering and integration; artificial intelligence and machine learning; quantum computing and sensing; autonomous systems; space; cybersecurity, electronic warfare, and information warfare; hyper sonics/counter-hyper sonics; undersea technologies; agile and resilient command and control; next generation C4ISR; nuclear engineering; bioengineering; intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance; and other cross-domain, leap-ahead technologies.Job Description:We are seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer to apply threat-informed expertise in cyber technologies and integrated solutions to enhance the security and resilience of Australia’s cyber systems and infrastructure.This role will be based in Canberra, ACT reporting to the Managing Director of MITRE | Australia.Roles and Responsibilities:You will be a member of the MITRE team working in a multi-agency environment developing, coordinating, and implementing cybersecurity initiatives and policy across the 18 Intelligence Community agencies.You will serve as a cybersecurity strategic advisor for multiple levels of senior government leadership and serve as an interface between cutting-edge technical experts (MITRE and government) pairing mission needs with achievable policy decisions and outcomes.You will provide cyber, analytic, and systems engineering thinking and expertise to refine organization and technology specific policy, plans, and processes, while also developing cyber risk management activities into US Government policy and instruction. A willingness to work on-site at IC sponsor facilities is required.Build partnerships across organizations to collaboratively address cyber threats.Helping our customers and their stakeholders identify opportunities to improve cyber capabilities, processes, and operations.Continue to build and strengthen international relationships through technology collaboration and common interest between countries to provide a safer world!Basic Qualifications:Requires minimum of 8 years’ experience with a Bachelor’s degree; 6 years’ experience with a Master’s degree; 5 years’ experience with a Ph.D.; or an equivalent combination of related education and work experienceDegree in Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Cyber Policy, or related fieldKnowledge and understanding of the Intelligence Community cybersecurity practicesKnowledge and understanding of cyber risk management and government policyDemonstrated proficiency and strength in verbal, written, presentation, and communications skillsExperience with cybersecurity technologies and tools, trends, and emerging capabilitiesAbility to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) within six months of employment.Preferred Qualifications:Master’s Degree in one of the above listed disciplinesProven to work effectively in a dynamic and complex environment, engage with senior government officers on complex technical and programmatic issues, and manage the competing equities of various government stakeholdersDemonstrated experience working with senior government officials and interagency coordinationKnowledge and understanding of National, Intelligence Community, and Defence cybersecurity policies and guidanceDemonstrated knowledge in cyber threat intelligence and other cybersecurity areas demonstrating adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs)Certification from CISSP, CISM, CISA, CCSP, or NCSFAustralian Negative Vetting Level 2 (NV2) and Eligible for Positive Vetting (PV) clearance.This requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s): SecretThis requisition requires the hired candidate to have or obtain, within one year from the date of hire, the following clearance(s): NoneWork Location Type: HybridMITRE is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
