The Client & Role:We are currently working with a VIC based utilities company to source an experienced Technical Lead with expertise in DevOps to join their team and transform their operations into a digital utility. As the Technical Lead you will play a pivotal role in driving strategic and tactical solutions, maintaining the client’s existing codebase, services, and capabilities. You will be instrumental in expanding and championing automation architecture principles, aligning software delivery with industry standards, and providing leadership and guidance to software delivery teams.Responsibilities:
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities in process management, ensuring all processes are documented and kept current.
  • Lead and influence teams to deliver exceptional outcomes for customers and the business, providing mentoring and coaching to develop software integration delivery skills.
  • Oversee project management, including delivery plans, budgets, and timelines, ensuring platform initiatives are delivered within acceptable timeframes and budget.
  • Develop and implement solutions, working closely with procurement, system integrators, testing, and operational team functions to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Apply systems thinking to assess systems for fit-for-purpose solutions, conduct impact analysis of changes, and lead opportunities for refactoring and improvement.
  • Drive the digital strategy and architecture, ensuring integration services are designed for extensibility and change, and lead practices for test automation and API-driven services.
Required Skills & Specialisms:
  • A minimum of 5 years’ software development experience, with at least 2 years in a Technical Lead capacity.
  • Advanced proficiency in delivering results, innovation & continuous improvement, critical thinking, customer focus, and coding skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Shell).
  • Intermediate proficiency in communicating with influence, change agility, SQL, APIs, and basic skills in automated testing.
  • Advanced proficiency in CI/CD tools and a strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and services (e.g., Azure).
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and building cloud Continuous Delivery pipelines.
  • Proven ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders, communicate complex concepts, and manage remote development teams.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, XP) and an eagerness to learn and apply new technologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, or a similar software-related field.
