The Acute Stroke Unit receives patients directly from emergency that are ineligible for thrombolyis treatment, post transfer from Intensive Care after thrombolysis and thrombectomy interventions and conservative dissection management. The Neurology case-mix comprises of chronic neurological conditions (For example; Encephalopathies, Guillian Barre, Parkinson's Disease, Myasthenia Gravis, Multiple Sclerosis, Seizures and Mitochondrial Disease) requiring specialised Nursing care through enhanced assessment skills, infusions and medication management. 7F is a collaborative ward supported by our multidisciplinary team to ensure safe care and enhanced Patient outcomes. The ward also accommodates the inpatient rehabilitation programs designed to assist patients to go straight home as an alternative to a rehabilitation facility.What you'll be doing
Provision of support to the nursing team in order to deliver a high standard of care to NSLHD patients.People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Currently enrolled in second or third year of a Bachelor of Nursing or degree deemed appropriate; or current enrolment in Diploma of Nursing (HLT54121) with evidence of completion of Block 1; or completion of HLT33115 Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Assisting in Nursing Work in Acute Care).
- Demonstrated, effective written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
