At ALS, we encourage you to dream big.When you join us, you’ll be part of a global team harnessing the power of scientific testing and data-driven insights to build a healthier future.The RoleOctief – a part of ALS Global – is seeking a motivated and skilled HAZMAT Field Consultant to join our Environmental team at Yatala, Queensland. This is a hands-on field role where you’ll undertake sampling, inspections, and testing for asbestos, mould, meth, lead paint, and other hazardous materials. You’ll work closely with Senior Field Consultants, providing safe and accurate results for clients while gaining professional development and mentoring in a supportive, safety-first environment.The Day to Day
  • Conduct in-field sampling and inspections of ACM, mould, meth, lead paint, and other HAZMAT
  • Complete and submit Chain of Custody (CoC) documentation for laboratory analysis
  • Perform air monitoring and clearance inspections post-ACM removal
  • Prepare samples and assist laboratory teams
  • Work alongside Senior Field Consultants to progress daily worklists of testing and inspections
  • Record findings and assist in reporting via our Octfolio analytics platform
  • Assist Environmental & OH teams as required
  • Write concise, accurate reports for clients and peer review
  • Travel across QLD and interstate, including occasional night shifts and weekends
The EssentialsWe’re looking for someone who’s detail-focused, methodical, and confident in guiding others in quality best practices. You’ll also bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Science, or related field
  • Licensed Asbestos Assessor accreditation (or willingness to obtain — full training provided)
  • Open driver’s licence & Construction White Card
  • QLD Blue Card (Working with Children)
  • Advanced Microsoft Office 365 skills
  • Right to work in Australia
  • Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
